Compatible and Incompatible Ontology Mappings

چکیده

Upper ontologies are interesting because describing and representing concepts that can be used across various domains (as opposed to domain ontologies). This feature may enable increased correctness of mappings between domain ontologies, conceptual schema and languages. Unfortunately, there exist various upper ontologies and it is quite difficult to decide or to assess which of them should be used in one application: the main reason is that upper ontologies are complex artifacts possibly specified in specific logics providing formalization of highly abstract concepts. Researchers have been therefore interested in understanding the similarities between upper ontologies by establishing mappings between key ontology concepts. In this paper, we review mappings proposed in literature and we establish a notion of compatibility between these mappings by introducing a method based on Galois connections. We then conclude with a synthesis of the results obtained by using the proposed method. The key findings put in evidence some key differences leading to incompatibility among proposed mappings. These differences are worth to be further investigated.

Cognitive control activity is modulated by the magnitude of interference and pre-activation of monitoring mechanisms

The Simon task is used to study interference from irrelevant spatial information. Interference is manifested by longer reaction times when the required response -based on non-spatial features- is spatially incompatible with stimulus position. Interference is greater when incompatible trials are preceded by compatible trials (compatible-incompatible sequence) than when they are preceded by incom...

Dissociation of S-R compatibility and Simon effects with mixed tasks and mappings.

Binary-choice reactions are typically faster when the stimulus location corresponds with that of the response than when it does not. This advantage of spatial correspondence is known as the stimulus-response compatibility (SRC) effect when the mapping of stimulus location, as the relevant stimulus dimension, is varied to be compatible or incompatible with response location. It is called the Sim...

Some common fixed point theorems for Gregus type mappings

In this paper, sufficient conditions for the existence of common fixed points for a compatible pair of self maps of Gregustype in the framework of convex metric spaces have been obtained. Also, established the existence of common fixed points for a pair of compatible mappings of type (B) and consequently for compatible mappings of type (A). The proved results generalize and extend some of the w...

Towards visualizing the mapping incoherences in Bioportal

The integration of biomedical ontologies via their matching often results in logical errors, due to incorrect mappings or incompatible ontological models. To solve this issue, repair algorithms remove mappings, decreasing the size and possibly the coverage of the alignment. Understanding these errors is crucial to support an effective use of alignments, since different scenarios may favor coher...

Two common fixed Point theorems for compatible mappings

Recently, Zhang and Song [Q. Zhang, Y. Song, Fixed point theory forgeneralized $varphi$-weak contractions,Appl. Math. Lett. 22(2009) 75-78] proved a common fixed point theorem for two mapssatisfying generalized $varphi$-weak contractions. In this paper, we prove a common fixed point theorem fora family of compatible maps. In fact, a new generalization of Zhangand Song's theorem is given.
